He was an infantryman and a combat artist in Vietnam and his war photographs are in the permanent collections of the Worcester Art Museum and the New York Public Library.  He consulted with collectors and museums on obtaining important works by Diane Arbus, Walker Evans, Robert Mapplethorpe, Mike Disfarmer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and many others. He arranged acquisitions for the permanent collections of the International Center of Photography, the photograph collections at the New York Public Library, the Worcester Art Museum, and others.  He was previously Director of the Driskel Gallery and Curator of Vintage Photography at the Schoolhouse Center in Provincetown, MA.  He curated many solo and group exhibitions which included Allen Ginsberg, George H. Seeley, Wilhelm von Glöeden, Lewis Hine, Robert Capa, William Gedney, Ruth Orkin, Walker Evans, James VanDerZee, Mark Shaw, Thomas Eakins, Edward Muybridge, Lee Friedlander, Edward Steichen, and others. His shows for James Bidgood and Annemarie Heinrich were the first U. S. solo exhibitions for both of these artists. He has produced shows of war photography, 19th century painted tintypes, early circus photography, Camera Work photogravures, daguerreotypes, and vernacular images.  He has been a subject in articles on photography and collecting in Martha Stewart Living, Shutterbug, Antiques and the Arts Weekly, and Provincetown Arts. He has published essays on painting and photography for Provincetown Arts and has illustrated books, collaborating with Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Eileen Myles.  He was honored with a retrospective at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in 2010.

Member of Salmagundi Club, PAAM, Grand Central Art Gallery, Boston Guild of Artists.  Exhibits include: PAFA (1929-30, 1932), NAD (1930-Hallgarten prize), Corcoran Gallery biennials 1928-37 (5 exhibits), AIC, PAAM, Mint. Mus. Art, Jordan Marsh, Boston, Evanston AA, Oklahoma AA.  Works at Chrysler Collection, Harvard Club, NY, Oklahoma Museum, Mint. Mus. Art, and others. Also painted numerous landscapes, still-lifes and portraits in Louisiana. About the Artist:  Samuel Edmund Oppenheim  (1901-1992)  Studied at National Academy of Design, the Art Students League, with Charles Hawthorne in Provincetown and with Harvey Dunn in New York.  He was heavily influenced by Walter Briggs, the illustrator that graced many magazine covers for a couple of decades since the early 1900's.  He later taught at the Art Students League in New York.  His portrait classes were very popular.  He was a member of the Salmagundi Club.  Exhibitions include DeBruyne Fine Art, American Gallery, Miller Gallery among many others.  His portraits are included in the collections at the White House, the Pentagon, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the Rhode Island State Capitol.  Other collections include PAAM, Seamans Bank (large portrait, Commercial Street branch), the Chrysler Museum, the DeBeers Collection, Emory University, The Pentagon, Rhode Island State Capital, and National Academy of Design among many others.  He was born in Minsk, Russia and had two homes and studios, one in Provincetown, the other in Naples, Florida.

About the Artist:  William  Wenneman  (born 1902)  He was a member and exhibited at PAAM.  Also was a railroad executive, born in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his business career as an office boy for the Van Sweringen brothers, working his way to assistant to the chairman of the board of the C & O Railway, a Van Sweringen enterprise, in the mid-1930s. At age 37 he became assistant to the president of the C & O, the Nickel Plate (NKP), and the Pere Marquette, then vice president of the C & O and the NKP in 1943. Three years later he quit his post in protest over the policies of then-chairman Robert R. Young, but returned to the railroad industry in 1950 as vice president of finance of the NKP which had separated from Robert Young enterprises. Wenneman retired in 1959 to travel in Europe then returned to his estate on Cape Cod. He wrote a letter to the New York Times about government authorized assassinations (June 9, 1975, from Truro, Ma.).

About the Artist:  Maxfield  Parrish  (1870-1966)  Studied with his father, Stephen Parrish and studied architecture at Haverford College, PAFA, and with H. Pyle at Drexel Inst.  Memberships include SAA, Phila. WCC, ANA, NA, Union Int. des Beaux Arts et Lettres, Cornish Colony.  Exhibitions include PAFA, Paris Expl, Pan-Am Expo, Phila. WCC, Arch. Lg., and more.  Most all of the above included awards.  Works at St. Louis AM, Brandywine River Mus., Delaware AM. and murals in hotels, clubs and public buildings.  Considered one of the greatest illustrators of the 20th century.  He always worked from photographs rather than live models.  His painting “Daybreak” sold millions of prints.  Most known for his neo-classic imagery, his paintings have since become postage stamps, album covers and known around the world.

About the Artist:  Ruth J. Bogan  (died 1980)  Long time resident, artist and supporter of artists on Martha's Vineyard.  She and Ruth Redding began the Ruth J. Bogan - Ruth Redding Memorial Fund and the Creative Living Award for people that exemplified Ruth Bogan's creativity and love of the Vineyard and have contributed significantly to the community (arts). She was a long time exhibitor in the All Island Art Show.  She loved warm colors, fine fabrics, birds, cats, dogs, and flowers.  Her mediums included watercolor, seaweed, acrylics, pastels, photography and jewelry.  In 1983, the Permanent Endowment was presented with its first gift in the amount of $60,000 from the estate of Ruth J.
